Curriculum
Bharatnatyam
We teach a structured curriculum consisting of 7 grades, each externally examined. Theory is an important component of this course. Students attend regular workshops conducted by both national and international visiting teachers. The minimum age requirement across our school in all artforms is 6 years upon registration.
Folk
Here at Chakras we provide a platform to explore the diversity of India’s rich folklore from all parts. The traditions, customs, attire and festivals celebrated in each state are taught along with dances respectively. These classes are inclusive of all ages and experience, we welcome all.
Bollywood
We teach techniques from Indian genres and respectfully collaborate with other genres. These classes are interactive as students are encouraged to select music and are taught skills of choreography. These classes are inclusive of all ages and experience, we welcome all.
Kathak
An introductory kathak class is run alongside the bollywood class. This enables us to teach formal techniques to students. These classes are directed for students who attain a certain level in folk and bollywood.
Contemporary
This genre is open only to people with classical training and experience in folk dance and is only upon selection.
