Dream. Dance. Develop
Chakras is an exceptional classical Indian dance community. It offers support and assistance towards the traditional Indian classical dance codes. It is a community whose members comprise of the students and their parents aspiring this growth process.
What we share is a commitment to strive for innovation and artistic distinction.
Savitri is a pioneer in the development of Indian arts in South Africa and a dance instructor, choreographer, and performer. She received Bharatanatyam instruction in India from Smt. Indira Rajan, Smt. Vyjanathimala, Madurai R. Muralidharan, and the Dhanajayans. She moved to Australia in 2010, where she established the Chakras Performing Arts. The students have had the chance to perform at numerous various cultural and artistic events ever since it began.
To impress upon the participant that a little bit of initiative will allow them to enjoy an intimate relationship with a classical art form.
To develop timeless life skills through dance experiences.
To use the arts for cross-cultural sensitivity, we can show how Indian Australians think as a community and how this influences wider society.
To allow the rich Indian Cultural heritage to be integrated into Western society while also providing them with the opportunities to be ambassadors of the art.
Highlights include performing at Newcastle Bollywood conference, India Independence Day celebrations, Arpan, Fiesta on Australian day,
Chakras productions, Bharatiya Rang, South African 150 years, Asia Pacific Special Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremony, India Republic Day celebration – Indian Consulate Sydney, Snow White, Nritya Dharshanam Cinderella in India, Rhythms of Bollywood Harmony day and numerous Charity events. 15 students have completed their course in Australia.
The Chakras performance for Reclaim the Night event was beautifully performed that spoke not only on the topic, but the strength of women.

The name of Smt. Savitriji is synonymous with perfection. She has single-handedly elevated the stature of Bharat Natyam to an extremely high level in South Africa. Her passion for excellence, vision, and sheer determination has resulted in some of the most outstanding dance productions I have ever seen, all way ahead of its time. She can rightly take the credit for generating the most and best qualified dancers in the genre in South Africa.

Congratulations to Savitribhen and Chakras Performing Arts on the launch of their website - a wonderful way to share the passion globally!
It has been incredibly inspiring to see Savitribhen, a South African dance icon, continue to create work of a high standard and fine detail all the way in Australia for the past 14 years. Newcastle is immensely fortunate to have Chakras as a propagator of authentic Indian arts and culture and I wish the academy many more successes and treasured memories in years to come. In a fast changing world, Savitribhen, the students and parents deserve much praise as they remain firm in their mission - may the passion always burn bright and strong!

It’s been an absolute pleasure doing workshops for Chakras! Savitri aunty is the most welcoming and hospitable and immediately makes you feel at home. The Chakras kids were so disciplined, quick in learning the pieces that were taught and were a delight to work with. The whole experience has always left me looking forward to more! Always wishing Savitri aunty, Chakras and their sishyas the very best!

Dear Savitriji
We are spellbound watching the divine extravaganza from the girls last night’s arangetram. Thanks for inviting us to immerse in the blissful performance. All the praise goes to the ever tireless guru who is dedicated to bring the best out of the performers. It was surreal and we were absolutely flabbergasted. It was impeccable, flawless and all the more very engaging the audience with the facial expressions and all the bhavams and foot movements with the Jathis. The girls are sure to watch in the future with more performances. Thanks again and take care, God bless all.
